Hi list!
Since there have been questions about this lately in the list i've thought
that perhaps someone could be interested on this data. We've run a bandwidth
test of a videoconf app (a regular all-see-all chat) It's basically the same
demo i shared, just with a text chat added.
Scenario:
3 users
Everyone in local LAN
cam settings:
cam.setMode(160, 110, 8); //160x110pixels,8fps
cam.setQuality(8192,0);
cam.setKeyFrameInterval(35);
cam.setMotionLevel(0,35000);
mic settings:
Flash defaults (good quality)
No bandwidth control on server side.
Bandwidth measurement was done exhaustively by capturing all the traffic
from and to server using wireshark and analizing those afterwards.
Server data:
Average upstream: 417kbps
Average downstream: 241 kbps
Peak total: 3600kbps
Client1 :
Average upstream: 79kbps
Average downstream: 138kbps
Peak total: 320kbps
Client2:
Average upstream: 99kbps
Average downstream: 152kbps
Peak total: 440kbps
Sorry i have no data of client3, but you could make an idea.
Just keep in mind (sorry for those that have this as obvious) that adding
other client will raise server upstream 4*clientUpStream, since the relation
is n^2.
Hope this is useful for someone.
