Alex, I am not sure if the jitter is from your Red5 or your ISP.. >From our experience use live Video stream, we have not encounter the issue you mentioned here, Furthermore, we set up 2 different machine to do the task of one you mentioned here, may be that is the difference but I can give you some insight of our system set up so you can compare:
Off site broadcaster:- Sony Camcorder Dazzle DVC90 / USB Toshiba Notebook (1 GH memory) 2.4G Duo (Red5 Broadcaster) We tested this outside network miles apart from our server and we used blue tooth audio headset. In office Red5 Web server:- Also use 3G P4 2G memory as Red5 Broadcaster, users will pull images from our RED5 Broadcaster through the RED5 web server from Internet. We can listen to radio station broadcasting in real time and at the same time watching our traffic without lag (Only have 3 mb pipe) I hope this help.
