Here's the goalscoring stats for the season to date.

The last line is one of my own device: ratio=goals/(games+(subs/2)). A few
interesting points arise:
1) Now 6 goals in 23 games doesn't really sound very good at all; but you
have to consider the total time spent playing. Diegoal is averaging a goal
every other game of playing time (slightly less) -- and then there's the 6
goals in 8 outright starts; not a bad record for someone who's taking the
flack he's been getting.
2) Ruud's pretty much just continuing on from where he left off last
season, averaging around the 100min mark/80% strike rate (52 goals in 70
games overall). He did have that bad patch a few months back where he
looked to be vaguely struggling; nothing he hit would go near the net
except for a couple of penalties, so you have to wonder what it would look
like had he managed to score from free play during that period.
3) Ole's not having his best season scoring wise but then he has played a
good 360min out of position on the right for Utd in the last few weeks.
Worth noting that he's spent more time on the field than the main striker
for once. Last season I think (wish I hadn't deleted the spreadsheet) he
was doing it at around the 120min mark.
4) The middies are still weighing in: Giggs every 4 games; Veron every 5;
Becks is actually well down on last season's tally but has been playing
better overall -- last season he scored a lot more then normal but played
nowhere near as well (only making 4 tackles all season[1]). Scholes has
really got the hang of that pocket-striker role this season and should end
up getting nearly 16-20 for the season, unless there's an injury, loss of
form, or tabloid scandal[2].
5) Other goals: Blanc 1; PNev 1; Richardson 1. Gone are the days of Dolly
and Daisy getting into double figures between themselves; or Dennnnis
grabbing 4-5 a season.
