Hate to say it but he has a point. Swap their fixtures for ours and I know what I'd be
saying.

I noticed Chelsea played yesterday after playing at 6.30 Sunday, ridiculous. These TV
arranged fixtures drive me nuts.

Wenger wants lazy Sunday

Guardian Wednesday January 29, 2003

Arsne Wenger has been up to his old tricks once again, telling the Football
Association when they should schedule the Gunners' FA
Cup fifth-round tie against Manchester United, and advising Sven-Gran Eriksson on how
to pick his team.
In the interests of Arsenal's Champions League campaign, Wenger has told the FA that
the tie can only take place on Saturday
February 15, rather than being moved to the Sunday.

Arsenal face Ajax in the Champions League on the following Tuesday evening at
Highbury, and Wenger wants his men chomping at the bit
and breathing fire.

The BBC, who have first choice of the FA Cup's televised live fixtures, would ideally
like such a significant encounter to be played
out in a prime-time slot either on Saturday or Sunday evening.

However, Greater Manchester Police must first be consulted over any evening kick-off
to ensure crowd safety.

Then there is the added TV scheduling problem of the Six Nations championships, with
France facing England at Twickenham on BBC1 at
4pm on the Saturday.

Wenger knows best, however, and has advised the FA to act in Arsenal's favour. "We can
win at 1pm or 6pm on the Saturday," he
insisted, somewhat prematurely, "but we can't play on the Sunday. That's impossible."
