David Beckham is looking forward to making an early return to Manchester
United in September - even though it will be as a Real Madrid player.
With England due to play Liechtenstein at Old Trafford on 10 September,
Beckham will be back on familiar territory sooner than expected and says he
is looking forward to making the trip.
"When I was told about that date I was pretty amazed," he said. "It is going
to be really weird going back to Old Trafford and me being a Real Madrid
player, but I am happy now and I have to make that clear.
"I have been happy for the past 13 or 14 years at Old Trafford. It has been
pretty mad recently, the last few days have been hectic."
Speaking on MUTV, Beckham added: "Once things die down all I want to do is
get down to playing football and enjoy being over here because that is part
of my life now.
"I am looking forward to going back to Old Trafford, because it is a place
full of so many memories."
Beckham has also dismissed claims any friction exists between him and new
Real coach Carlos Queiroz, who he has teamed up with at the Bernabeu.
Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant Queiroz left Old Trafford last week to replace
the sacked Vicente Del Bosque, and Beckham said: "Now that was a surprise.
With Carlos only being at United for a short time it was a surprise when he
came over to Madrid, but it is good for me because obviously he is a
familiar face and I can tell the lads a few stories about him!"
Beckham also predicts a successful reign for Queiroz.
"I think he is going to do well because he is a very good coach and he gets on to with
the players well," he added.
