I've been to several meetings at which Peter Kenyon was the 'guest'. I've
heard him speak and tried, as best I could, to 'hear' what he had to say.
I've heard him say that he kept the 'faith'. I KNOW people who believed
him. I DIDN'T - I've said so both on this List and to other people on many
occasions.

The news has NOT surprised me one little bit. Kenyon is the ultimate symbol
of that group of people who have 'discovered' Manchester United over the
past ten years. He has NO 'faith', no f**king 'faith' WHATSOEVER. It was
all 'lip service'.

For all his faults, and I acknowledge that he had many, Martin Edwards DID
have the 'faith'. Of that there is NO doubt in my mind. Edwards NEVER
pretended to be what he wasn't and I've gone on record (several times over
the years) saying that I preferred Edwards to Kenyon. It just saddens me
that, in this respect at least, I've been proved right.

So we have a new man. I know absolutely nothing about David Gill except
that he wears nice suits. Plainly he is another 'hard' business man. Far
(FAR) greater minds than mine will know whether he is a good business man
or not. But I suspect that David Gill will not pretend to have been a
Manchester United supporter since 1948 or 1958 or 1968. In some respects
that will represent a move in the right direction for me. If Gill is as
tough as I think he is (he looks it) then he might be the right man for the
job.

All we can do is hope.

In closing I want to ask anybody on this List who has the ear of anybody in
a position of influence at Old Trafford (which I do not have, have never
had, and never will have) to beg them to ensure that when Sir Alex wants to
revisit his contract as the Manager of OUR football club that he is given
what he wants and that we do NOT have the debacle that we understand went
on last time. If you do have that ear, and will do me that favour, then you
have thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Keep the faith, Kenyon said he DID you know - he DIDN'T, Pete
