This story below, which is taken from today's Daily Mirror, has more than a
passing interest for me. For a number of reasons.

1) As the father of a "personality", I have been witness to a number of
incidents and situations over the years that could possibly earn me a quick
buck in the media, but that thought is furthest from my mind due to trust
and confidentially. People confided in me knowing (or hoping) I would never
tell a soul. Anyone who betrays trust such as this creep, Ned Kelly, is to
be dispised as the lowest of low.

2) As an active campaigner for Shareholders United Against Murdoch, it was
Ned Kelly who frogmarched Richard Briers and myself from the forecourt in
front of OT before that year's AGM as we were handing out leaflets urging
fellow shareholders to vote against the proposed Murdoch takeover. (We made
the back page of the Daily Mail) As shareholders ourselves what we were
doing was perfectly legal, yet My Kelly took it upon himself to take the
Denis into his own hands. When, surrounded by the national press, Richard
and I asked Mr Kelly who had authorised his actions and he said "The Board."
When we him, "So, was it A?" "er, No". "So, was it B?", "er, No." etc..
etc.. Of course not. As over sensitive as the Board often is when faced with
real-life situations, it's often Ned Kelly who does their dirty work, but in
our case it was Mr Kelly himself.

3) A couple of years ago, soon after arriving in Cannes, I got a job selling
stands for "Football Expo", a football trade exhibition which used to be
held every January in Cannes. (It's now gone bust - serves them right for
not continuing my contract) Ned Kelly's security company was one of many
companies I was trying to convince to take a stand. Let's just say his whole
demeanour during my failed negociations left a lot to be desired.

Just thought you'd like to know.

MANCHESTER United are desperately trying to block a book which lifts the lid
on the private lives of Premiership stars.

Lawyers will next week seek an injunction to stop the revelations by former
club security chief Ned Kelly being published.

A United source said: "Kelly has been privy to all kinds of things such as
flare-ups behind the scenes.

"This book would be a disaster for the game which has been rocked by a
number of scandals."

The book was due to be serialised in a newspaper from tomorrow and sold soon
afterwards.

But London-based O'Mara Books last night agreed to halt publication until
after a meeting with a High Court judge.

United claim ex-SAS man Kelly, 54 - who now lives in Florida - is in breach
of confidentiality.

The dad-of-two was close friends with Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham and
Ryan Giggs before he left over claims that he became a ticket tout.
