I beleive there is an option in the 'replace content class' to do just
that...
Go to an instance of class A in SmartTree, choose 'Replace Content
Class' in the Action Menu, choose the B class, then go to the next
screen, do you element mapping ans check 'Replace the content class of
all pages based on this content class'

I you want to replace only the instances connected to a particular
list, and not all the instances, then you will need to do some RQL...
