We have allowed it for content editors who are mostly proficient. However, every once in a while, there are some problems that have occurred in the modified content, usually when someone tries to create of modify the HTML source. We use workflow, and have a step in which the Web Compliance Manager runs and does not allow the page to exit workflow with faulty HTML. So, basically, the page keeps going back to the author until all HTML errors are fixed. Works well for us.
