I am urging against using External Dynamics, not the Application
Portal.  And, actually, I'm not even doing that.  I'm advising you
think about why you want to run ASP code inside of LiveServer before
deciding that you are going to do.  Just because it can be done
doesn't mean it should be done.  External Dynamics have some
significant limitations.

There is a big difference between what External Dynamics and the
Application Portal allow you to do.  The original post was asking
about why ASP files being delivered by LiveServer were not being
executed.  External Dyamics can be used to execute ASP files that are
stored inside a LiveServer project.  Application Portal can integrate
an ASP application with a LiveServer project, but it's integration
rather than execution.

Application Portal is just one option for integrating external systems
with a LiveServer website.  The Web Service Connector and the Include
DynaMent are also very capable integration tools.  Each option has its
strengths and weaknesses.
