Yes, I agree w/ Henry. That's always the message we've been given from
Sales and from Support. The Verity license embedded in LiveServer only
allows LiveServer content to be indexed.

One way we've considered around this is to pump the text to be searched into
LiveServer using the same ContentImport Web Service along w/ an attribute
that defines the URL they should be sent to. When you perform the search in
LiveServer, you can use XSLT to make sure the URL you point them back to is
the external website. This should probably only be used with tightly
controlled requirements and is better for more relational type data (like a
database of products).

Subject: [reddot] Indexing File System using LiveServer

Let me know if you find a way.

As far as I know, Verity shipped with LiveServer is an OEM bundled version
and is restricted to content resides within LiveServer repository.

Hi,

Is there any way we can use the RedDot
LiveServer Verity search engine to index external files.(HTML Files not
stored
in the LiveServer).

I was just thinking there must be a way like.
Verity Search engine creating an full text search index for the external
files
system. Then there may be an API call that we can do to the liveserver
through which we can send our search query and get the results. Is this
possible. Is there any way i can index external file system (mostly html
files).

We have a reddot liveserver license and thought we
may use it for this purpose.

Can you please specify any other practice how is
this can be acheived.

Thanks in advance,

Swapna.
