Hmmm... it might seem obvious if you've done it before, but for a
first-timer, it certainly isn't. Especially given the fact that all
the help implies locking is a publication-related concept: "This
project has been automatically locked against publication ...",
"Locking the publisher has no effect on opening and editing a project
in SmartEdit ..."

It's also quite inconvenient that there's no state between "completely
locked" and "completely open". What I really require is a project I
can work with, that I can guarantee won't be published out. I guess I
can try tweaking publication settings in an attempt to prevent
publication, but this seems incredibly risky, and has proved
notoriously flaky in the past.

I guess I'll just have to configure everything to publish to new
locations first before anyone can do any content editing in this copy.
Thanks for the info, though - this is all a rant about RedDot rather
than you personally! :-)
