In some sense of the word, RedDot / Open Text has accepted some rare
plugins. My updated version of the FCKEditor was eventually bundled
into the distributed version of CMS 7.5 as part of the official
distribution. I think I've seen others - although I believe the
majority of those have come from their partners. The Ephox editor is
another example.

I also had quite a few conversations with RedDot employees about this
at various levels. They have never been uptight about the warranty
other than to remind me that I am modifying their code and that I am
assuming my own risk. That being said, they know who I am and have
always been willing to help and are very supportive. One of the
reasons we initially selected RedDot and we continue to be happy with
them is how extensible the product is by way of RQL, plugins, render
tags, etc. Yes you can create a mess, but you can also do some pretty
cool things (like completely mange all your group memberships in an
external LDAP and sync them with RQL).

Here's what we do when we need to call support: under our user
settings, we set our Preferred Text Editor to the RedDot Text Editor
and make sure the problem still occurs. Then we leave it there until
the support call is through just to make sure that they can properly
troubleshoot with tools they are familiar with.

I'm fairly certain that the edit-via-form changes are the only ones
that will give you warranty problems (they are the only ones that have
actually modify RedDot code). Unfortunately, there was just no way
around that. In the RedDot CMS 7.5 and earlier code there are multiple
hard coded references to the external editor being at the path
"fckeditor" - even though there is a project setting that specifies
this. The changes I outline just have you undo some of those hard
coded settings.
