If you've ever had to delete a placeholder from a content class that has a large number of instances, you've no doubt seen it takes a _long_ time and eventually times out. This appears to have no ill effects long term and the system continues just fine in my experience.
So my question is, does anyone know if it's possible to delete placeholders another way that avoids the lengthy operation (and subsequent grinding the CMS to a halt)? As a bit of background info, we're trying to clean up placeholders that are no longer used anywhere in the content class templates.
