Hi Dave, there is an extension called CDS (Content Distribution System). http://websolutions.opentext.com/uk/Yorkshire_Tourist_Board.aspx
Its based on sharing content classes, but extends the CMS with plugins for distributing the content across CMS Projects. One of our clients is using an extended version of this to manage and distribute content for their departments all over the world.
