Cleaver name.

It should not be changed because I think the creation date is like a
database index, which can be changed but who knows how many things
depend on it.

Plus, doing so may possibly void your maintenance agreement.

Not sure if performance differs by a date versus create date.  Best
way to test that is to expand the list in SmartTree and time it
because that way, template code will not influence the speed.
