I expect eveyone will tell you that you need training (which you do). The system is fairly large and without training or someone sat next to you that knows what they are doing you will struggle to get to grips with it.
Saying that if you have any specific questions the guys/gals on here are a great source of info. Whoever gave you Reddot as a first task should be slapped in the face with a large kipper... There is a lot of info over at the unofficial reddot blog and the reddot solution exchange site.
