Hi Tiffany, if you download the second version of the Best Practice Project (http://www.solutionexchange.info/bpp1012.htm) you'll find some content classes in the Management Server part of the project which are used to display a blog, a tag cloud and some other things which are part of the Open Text Social Communities. In the Delivery Server part of the project you can see how the HTTP connector is being used/ configured to "talk" to the Collaboration Server (=Social Communities Server).
Hint: You can use the out of the box portlets to do "Social things" or use the HTTP connector and create you application(s) from scratch. I really would like to advise you to use the HTPP connector instead of the portlets!
