I realize this is an old post but got this exact same error and below is what worked for me.
Not sure which step(s) were directly relevant to the solution so I am listing each step as I did them since it solved the problem. 1) In SmartTree, on the project node, choose "Clear Page Cache" 2) In Server Mgr, expand App Servers and select each reddot server, and choose "Clear Language Resource Cache" 3) Remote into each of your reddot servers and on each server, delete the contents of these folders and be sure you leave NO FOLDERS remaining at all: .\OpenText\WS\MS\ASP\PageCache \ OpenText\WS\MS\ASP\ImageCache *If you have trouble deleting any, open a top level folder (like Page Cache) and inside this folder, right click and choose "View" and then "Content". Now use your keyboard Delete button to delete each folder or the whole group. I don't know WHY this works; I just now it solved the "can't delete Thumb from folder" error that often happened when trying to delete a group of these folders in the usual Windows Explorer way. Now try publishing again and should work. Note: I did not need to restart any services, nor reboot any servers in this process. Good Luck!
