Yikes!  Well, my name is in the XFree86 source, yet I don't often work in X.
I mainly use text consoles and vim :P  I consider myself as real as the next person.

My co-workers have bugged me enough about it that I run Gnome on one of the machines
at my desk (that's 1 out of 7 by the way).  I'd be happy with twm.

Red Hat provides choice.  When the install comes up you can pick "custom" and install
less if you want to (I usually go for "everything").  I don't see choice as a bad 
thing.
