Hello,

Actually that's why 75dpi and 100dpi versions of the fonts
exist. This is normally enough - although there are cases
where 1600x1200 on a 17" (i.e. 125 dpi or so) comes handy,
it normally does not make much sense - all your eyes
are interested in is the angle and if you are reading
from comfortable distance, 100 and 125 dpi are both above
their resolution. If you need the real estate, a bigger
monitor or a dualhead configuration is the way to go.
Unfortunately there is quite a lot of applications that
specify fonts using pixels and not decipoints. That is
the case where one must change the fonts manually.
BTW, I am not quite sure, but doesn't RedHat install the
X or font server in the 75 dpi configuration? I remember
I had to change the default resolution in the font server
configuration to read
default-resolutions = 100,100,75,75
instead of
default-resolutions = 75,75,100,100
or to specify -dpi 100 on the command line.
