Can anyone explain why my printer refuses to print until I take it offline and
hit the form feed button. I have check the configuration files in the printtool
and they have not changed. Have I corrupted the driver?
I have a Hp laser jet III tied into lpt1 and my configurationi is
name : lp
spool directory /var/spool/lpd/lp
file limit 0
printer device /dev/lp1
input filter *auto* - Laser Jet 3d
filter printing options
send EOF after job (set)
Native Test Printing Options
LF->CR/LF Tranlations? set
Send EOF after job? set
the test pages do not print
the ascii page hangs up -- and requires that you manually take the printer
offline and give the job a form feed. forget postscript it trashes .
This printer was working fine with the above settings. The only thing I can
think of is that I tried to
print a graphic file off of the browser using netscape. ......
Because I am clueless about printer in general I am hoping one of you out there
can help me reconfigure printing so that It works again. Needless to say I need
this printer to work.
additionally -- I have a MicroSuck machine that uses this printer from time to
time. I would love to believe that that machine screwed up some setting on the
hp. But I am not knowledgable enough on printers to know if this is possible.
