Thank you Eze and everyone else that responded. I now can do exactly
what I asked... "ftp a bit at a time?"
Using "get -C -R so40sp3_lnx_01.tar.gz" inside ncftp I'll eventually get
the damn thing!!! I was previously just using ftp... never again.
