i've seen the iiyama visionmaster pro 17 for as low as $525. i run
mine at 1280x1024 @ 80Hz, though it can do 1600x1200 @ 72Hz. it uses
an aperture grill type screen which i love (very sharp and flat), but
others hate (two faint horizontal lines). YMMV.
