RH 5.0 does a reverse IP lookup by default. If will try to resolve the IP
adress, but if there is no DNS (or not for that IP), it will fail and
timeout. This take a while, so that's the delay.

Try adding the IP to the DNS server, or add then to /etc/hosts.
