Ok, with all the typing about raid this week on the list, I thought I'd
look into getting 2-4 drives down at my local swap shop ( very nice bulk
buys they get in to sell "retail" vs ordering the "retail" kits - saves
lots of money when all you get a small brown box and a manual :) in lue
of the install howto VHS tape, the idiots guide to upgrading, and all
those extra rail kits...

Anyhow I'm wondering if there is a good Faq/howto for raid under linux.
I'd like to exither expand my home lan by building a new k6-2 system (
god a board with a 300 chips is only 250 at some places, ram is so
cheap. Damn monitor is going to cost me more )

Anyhow I'm musing over a small 3-4 disk array, mabey 3-4gig drives with
I guess level 5, so say 3 real drives 1 error checking drive or
whatever. Something that I can walk out and slap another drive in when
the mood strikes me.

What is currently my host/workstation will probably revert back to an NT
client so I don't have to keep booting back and forth to run win apps.
Then the new k6-2 / 300 or 333 depending on when I get around to
shopping , would be the Linux box - probably up to 5.1 ( by then all
these bugs should be worked out <grin> )

So is it better to get a big hulking server case for the new
motherboard, that has the space for the raid array? Or should I get a
small raid case and just plug it into the linux box then let all the
other clients use it?

( ok nuff said, there has to be a faq or howto floating around - this
can't be a new thing <grin)
