Hi, Found the answer following the link from Donald Becker's network card drivers for Linux web page to Paul Gortmaker's NE2000-PCI page. Here is the gist of it. I am running 2.0.32 updated kernel (RedHat Linux 4.2) and STILL getting the wrongly worded message, as the answer below indicates this wrong wording of the message was fixed with a patch in kernel 2.0.30! ============= Question: I use the module version of your update, and it loads and appears to be working fine, but I get this funny message `loading device eth1' that I didn't get before. I only have the one card, which is eth0. Is this a problem? Answer: No, you can ignore it. It should read `probing for device eth1' instead. Since PCI probes are completely safe, the module probes to see if you have a second, third or fourth PCI ne2000 card installed. The v2.0.30 version of the patch actually makes this wording change for you. ============= -- Raj +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Raj Singh | EMAIL : [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | IC Design Group |---------------------------------| | CEERI, Pilani - 333 031 | PHONE : 91-1596-42359 (office) | | Rajasthan (INDIA) | FAX : 91-1596-42294 (office) | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
