Just put the files:
libc.so.5 -> libc.so.5.4.44
libm.so.5 -> libm.so.5.0.9

in the /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib directory

There's no rpm to upgrade libc on a RH 5.x machine as far as I know.  So
you have to find the tarball.
