I believe the tape is an IDE type and the drive is a Seagate. That's just the tape. A tape is just, well, a strip of plastic tape sprayed with magnetic film and spooled around two spools. It's neither compatible nor incompatible with any particular operating system. It just is. Now, the tape drive that plays and records those tapes is a different story. If you know the name and model number of a tape drive that plays and records the particular tape you have, we can tell you (probably) whether that tape drive works with Linux.
