Hello!
I've done a check with faqs on #linux on EFNet :=) which yields:
[bzip2]: a higher compression ratio than gzip, bzip2 is also typically slower,
and uses more memory. If you want speed, stick with gzip. bzip2's homepage is at
http://www.muraroa.demon.co.uk/
The RPM is also available at:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/contrib/hurricane/i386/bzip2-0.1pl2-2.i386.rpm
