I just bought a Diamond Fireport 40 from http://www.scsistuff.com for $99.
It has both wide and narrow SCSI and is supported by Linux kernels from
2.0.32 and up. Red Hat Linux 5.0 installed on my machine slick as greased
lightning, no problems. It uses one of the NCR/Symbios chips (the newer
wide/ultra SCSI one). It has a narrow-SCSI external port, which is no
problem for me since I don't have external RAID arrays or anything like
that. If you need a wide-SCSI external port, SuperMicro has a cheap SCSI
card based on the same NCR/Symbios chip for about $20 more. Check
http://www.megacom.com for a source.

Note: I'm not affiliated with either of the above retailers, I'm just a
satisfied customer (having bought from both of them in the past and gotten
fast reliable service).
