Nope. IDE. All devices named hdX are IDE, as sdX stand for scsi
devices.

It depends on motherboard. Mine (ASUS TX97E) sees the IDE CDROM.
I saw Syquest 135M IDE (on a clone) and ZIP IDE (on a micron)
recognized. Is the 4th drive enabled for autodetect in your CMOS?
(However, this is not important for your problem)
