My system running 4.1 of Redhat, on a Pentium 100 machine. The other day I noticed that I get an unresolved symbol error on 3c509.o when I boot. I also wanted to get sound up on my system. SOOOoooo I thought I would kill two birds, so to speak. What I did was recompile the kernal with sound as a module. The only change to the .config file was the addition of sound as a module. I then moved the old modules to another directory and did a make modules_install. I DID NOT move the kernal over to /boot because I figured that the old kernal is exactly the same as the new one. (remember I only wanted to add sound as a module not change the core kernal). I then booted my machine with the old modular kernal. I noticed that the unresolved symbol error was still there. Now the questions........ Where is the unresolved symbol error coming from????? and How do I test sound...... ??????? I need to know what module that setting sound made and how to add it to either kerneld or give insmod the correct argument. -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
