BTW, in case this matters, I'm actually at the machine running the
server; from a terminal in Xwindows I'm telnetting to a remote machine,
setting the display to my local machine (# export
DISPLAY=192.168.1.3:0), and then starting my client program (which is
the dotfile genarator -- a really great program by the way, longer
praise-singing session to follow when I get it working).
