I have a Mystique 220 w/4MB also and had the same problem with
MetroX (although I think Ctrl-Atl-Backspace killed it for me). Just
remove the MetroX package(s?) and install XFree86-SVGA and Xconfigurator.
Then run Xconfigurator and follow the prompts. I'm happily running at
32bpp color and 1024x768. For messages I've seen on the list, the
XFree server performs better than MetroX for these cards anyway. Good
