Install the Metro-X rpm, and configure as following:

Just change the symbolic link for X to point to:
 X -> /usr/X11R6/bin/Xmetro

On my system I have in my path X  (/usr/bin/X11/X) that is actually a link
to /etc/X11/X which is a link to /usr/X11R6/bin/Xmetro.
(This is RH4.1).

Change the link in /etc/X11/X to point to the Xserver you want to run.(Xmetro)

After that run the configX command (as root) to configure the Metro-X
server.
