Hi,

I just installed RH 5.0 on a 486 with a 200 Meg HD yesterday with
RH
5.0. I am applied the #5 patch to diald and I upgraded the ppp rpm

from the one found in the updates directory on the RH website.

I used the diald script that I had on my 4.2 box and I'm having
     trouble with the chat script.

I start diald and try to get the internet. Accoring to the
/var/log/messages file, it is not getting an AT back from the
modem.
It times out. Now minicom works wihtout a hitch, and I have a
symlink from /dev/modem to /dev/cua1 because the modem is on COM2.

Any ideas why the chat script is not getting an AT back from the
modem? I can see the "TD" light come on for a few seconds and then

     turn off again.

Looking for any and all help

     Thanks in advance

     Mark
