Red Hat has not yet released a mailman 2.1 rpm so no matter what you do,
you'll break or lose up2date.
Coincidentally, I was exchanging e-mail with the former package
maintainer, and he said it's probably too late for 8.1 since the beta
has already been released. I was hoping at least for a rawide release
which would get you going for a while.
If you really want it now, I suggest you go with the tarball. If you
can wait a month or more, than Red Hat may have it packaged and tested.
For what it's worth, listman.redhat.com still seems to be running 2.0.1
even though 2.0.13 is out (and shipping from Red Hat). 2.0.1 also has
lots of security holes that that 2.0.13 fixes.
