I have my server name show up in two places, once in /etc/sysconfig/network, and once in my /etc/hosts - so if your syslog is picking up the old name, you have somethign else gonig on. Do you have NIS nistalled (and running)?
It was re-booted I'm sure. That seems like it should be the trick though. I'll take an opportunity to re-boot it again, maybe later this evening, and see if that does the trick.

I do not have NIS running.
