According to tytso, you can drive two serial lines at 115Kbps
simultaneously on a 386 under Linux.   That's at least one interrupt
per sixteen bytes, usually more.   With networks you get an interrupt
for every packet, say 1K.   That's 1/64 the interrupt load.  I see no
reason why a Pentium should not be able to keep up with a T3.   After
all, the firewalling and NAT is all done in the kernel, there are no
user processes to wake up.
