Hi Michael,

I am not 100% sure if this is what you want but we are using PC-NFS (from
Sun) on a lot of old DOS PC's (some even don't have any windows, or at most
3.1 or WfW). We use them for instrument controlling and some simple data
collection (atmosphere's condition) at our telescope. It offers TCP/IP (comes
with ftp and telnet) and we use a socket library developed at the National
Radio Astronomy Observatories (NRAO). I have heard about plans of Sun to
phase out PC-NFS, but they might have a new product. BTW: we also map drives
and printers of our Sun and VMS workstations to the PCs using PC-NFS.

     Regards,

           Dirk
