I've got a SCSI CDRW (Yamaha CRW 4416) and I have been unable to get it to
work with any version of RedHat since the kernel that came with RedHat 7.1.
I'm now on RedHat 8.0. It just gives me a "device unavailable" error when I
try to actually burn something. Yesterday it let me blank a CDRW disk, but
when I tried it again later yesterday it failed.

Unfortunately the people on the "cdrecord" list aren't very friendly in
general and the author of CDRECORD specifically said "ask RedHat."

I'm using the latest versions of both CDRECORD and XCDRoast and I'm still
unable to burn.

I have something of a debug log from the output that was displayed in the
XCDRoast window. I'm inserting it below. If you have any ideas on how to get
this CDRW which is listed as working under CDRECORD, I'd really appreciate
it!

BTW, I almost forgot... I upgraded the firmware on the CDRW last night to
1.0j, which is the last one that has been released for this drive (Released
in 2000.) I also heard a nasty rumor that Yamaha is no longer going to make
CDRW drives so I don't hold out much hope for a newer firmware.
