I've found with mine, that cdrecord pretty much defaults to the proper speed. Even if I try to set to "wrong" (to high for example), it will correct, and use the proper speed.
I'd suggest no worrying about it. Put a blank disk in, and give it a whirl (pun intended). See what it does. It may not be as bing an issue as you think. Ric > Yep.
