I think that the problem with Java 1.4.x is that it used GCC 2.95(or
something like that), but Mozilla-1.3b was built using the new version
of GCC (3.x or something). So the only way you are going to get java to
work with Mozilla-1.3b is to build Java with the same GCC, or wait for
SUN to put one out.

Acrobat Reader is bombing out because of the LANG setting.
Read the release notes on RedHat's site.

Just do this in a terminal.. env LANG=C acroread

RedHat uses UTF-8 and Acrobat Reader wants C
