>Word of mouth kills the bad guys quick! Too true, unfortunately, everyone over here seems gullible enough to get stung before the coming of wisdom, and companies fold before they even have recourse to protest. Would it surprize you if I further said that some principals, of companies caught doing this before, open other companies and do it all over again? The list you speak of, is short. Very short at this stage. If it interests you, I browsed the paper for good deals on new motherboards/cpu combos. The first (and cheapest) ad I responded to, was for a TX with 166mmx. I asked whether it would be suitable for redhat linux, and the rep said no, linux causes motherboards to fail, because they're *meant* to run win95. So whilst I appreciate that idiom of the purchasing public where you live having been there and done that..and even perhaps finished voting with their feet, DOWN HERE most folks don't even know where they stand!!! I have even heard of cases where vendors were unwilling to honour warranty claims on dead CPUs or motherboards that'd died, *because* the owner had installed or ran linux on a machine within guarantee period. The dis -information I hear being said about linux in my fields is horrific, some folks won't touch it just because of this. Most...don't even know what it is.
