With my setup, I have my RH box acting as domain controller for my W2K
machines. You will need to ditch the cleartext passwords for this to
work (you shouldn't need cleartext passwords anyways).

If you do it this way, you can have login scripts, roaming profiles,
etc. You won't need a password to connect to shares because your
login password will be used. Very handy and isn't that much effort
to setup.

Subject: Samba and win 2000

Greetings everyone,

I have been running my home network using RH8 as the internet
gateway/firewall and server for the other win boxes that are connected. Up
until recently all the windows boxes I have been using have been windows
98, but due to upgrading of the video editing software on my video editing
machine I needed to go to win 2000. I installed the plain password reg
file, so I can connect to the various shares, but what I would like to do
it have the machine automatically log on to the various shares so I don't
have to type in the user name and password the first time I access a shared
volume. Is there are way to do this? I would appreciate some direction
toward helpful walk through or how to's.

Jim
