Hi Hampel, Interactive mode means that you can step through the loading of various modules when Linux boots. You might want to do this if you want to stop a module being loaded (I had to stop kudzu loading, and this is one of the ways to do it). When stepping through, the loader asks you to confirm each module in turn and you can skip them if you like. If Linux is booting properly on your machine, you shouldn't need to do this, so just let the non-interactive boot continue.
I've also found that pressing I once seems to have no effect. You have to press it and keep your finger on it for a second or so before it sees the key. My guess is that Linux is periodically polling the keyboard for a short time and is not seeing an individual key press. Pressing the I key and holding it there to repeat it must give it a greater chance of seeing the key's been pressed.
