Dear Cliff, I think you need to rebuild the kernel. I have a Compaq laptop and I had to do that. In my case I needed to rebuild 2.4.20 kernel. To rebuild the kernel follow the instructions of this link:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/ch-custom-kernel.html http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/s1-custom-kernel-initrd.html http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/s1-custom-kernel-bootloader.html If the ACPI option won't be available, get a acpi-patch on http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=36832&release_id=83005 to set acpi available. Choose the patch for your kernel version. If you have some problems email-me. Do you know if Battery Charge Monitor on RedHat 8 supports ACPI ?
