RH 8.0 w/Bluecurve theme using GNOME. I use gnome-terminal (with black on white using xterm colors) to ssh into a RH 7.1 system. The background color of the ssh session is white. I then run slrn on the RH 7.1 system. The background color definitions for the slrn session are set as white (not using the default). However, everywhere that should be showing a background as white is showing as lightgrey on the local gnome-terminal except when I do a post or followup using vi. The text edit window in vi is white. Someone on the newsgroup list uses the same color definitions using xterm (do not know what setup) and the white shows as white.
I tried the same thing using xterm on the RH 8.0 system and the results were the same. The lightgrey is pretty much the same grey that sometimes looks like the default color in bluecurve. My vision is not all that great and I would like the background to be white to maximize the contrast between the fg text and the bg white. The fg colors all show correctly on both gnome-terminal and xterm. Where in all these connections can I look to force white to show as bg white for the slrn session? It does show as white when I run other apps on the same server. Thanks. Thanks.
