I don't _know_ that any of the updates actually fixes this. It just seems 
to me that the kernel's menuconfig was fixed at some point. Nothing that 
I know of has addressed the man page output.

Here is a workaround that was posted to the Psyche list some time ago:

Prior to make menuconfig, try:

# unicode_stop ; setfont lat0-sun16

This will temporarily "fix" things so that make menuconfig will work.

# setfont latarcyrheb-sun16 ; unicode_start

Puts thing back the way they were (or log out of the terminal, IIRC)
